Three Main Tips for Buying Locks with High Quality

High quality locks are related to home safety. There are three tips for you when purchasing a lock:

First is the operative standards of locks
Foreign countries have strict standards for hardware lock so that imported products have relatively high quality. We can know the quality of locks by observing and touching. Usually, heavy lock has higher quality; the lock body shouldn't be sharp, or it will hurt people; especially pay attention to the end of lock handle, spring bolt and four corners of lock. Good lock spring has high flexibility and long service life. Locks have various styles, it would be better if it matches with the styles of interior doors.

Second is the materials
The lock materials classify into stainless steel, copper and zinc alloy. Stainless steel has high strength, strong corrosion resistance and invariant color, so it is the best material for making lock. The most common material is copper, which has superior mechanical properties and high prices. Zinc alloy has strong wear resistance, corrosion resistance and easy molding, so it's mainly used for medium-class locks.

Third is the surface treatment.
There are three different kinds of surface treatment, including plating, painting and coloring. The surface of locks forms a compact film after some treatment, which has advantages of preservation, rust-proof, and make locks more beautiful and durable. Compact film is a standard measure of lock quality. Most good quality locks would be treated with electroplating. The film is smooth, uniform and moderate, which has bright color, no bubbles and no signs of rust and oxidation.
