How to Maintain Common Key Locks?

Avoid slamming the door. Otherwise, the door lock will impact on the door frame and the life of the lock will be shortened.

It is recommended to check whether the rotating parts of the lock body are lubricated once every half a year or once a year. At the same time, check whether the fastening screws are loose.

Pay attention to the expansion with heat and contraction with cold caused by different weather, so as to ensure whether the fit clearance between the door and frame, the lock body and strike plate is appropriate, and whether the bolt is well matched with the hole of the strike plate.

When it is found that the bolt does not come in and out smoothly and the door can only be closed with great force, check whether the screws of the door hinge are loose and whether the hinge is deformed. Tighten screws or replace hinges depending on the case. Ensure that the clearance between the door and the door frame is uniform and less than 3mm.

When the key can't be inserted into the lock smoothly, some graphite powder (pencil powder) can be added into the keyhole for lubrication. Do not use any fluid oil as lubricant. The oil will absorb dust which will stick to the lock cylinder, causing the lock to be unable to be rotated and opened.

Due to the elastic force of the sealing strip installed between the door and the door frame, push or pull the door by hand to overcome the elastic force when unlocking the door. Do not forcibly turn the handle or key to unlock the door, so as not to fracture the handle or key.

When decorating the house, do not tear off the protective film on the lock in order to prevent some corrosive paint from sticking to the lock and corroding it.
